![]() TransReview Note: Sadly we have none of these comics in our possession, so we are presenting you with this summary from Rob's Transformers Page. When Cobra Commander tries to use hyper-advanced Cybertronian teleportation technology for his terrorist activities, a malfunction of epic proportions occurs. The super computer that controls the teleportation gate scatters several Transformers into the time stream, marooning them at various points in Earth's history. If the time-tossed robots are not rescued, temporal feedback will unleash a firestorm that will rage throughout history, utterly destroying the planet. Meanwhile, on Cybertron, the evil Shockwave plots the ascension of the Decepticons! ![]() Two years after the departure of the Transformers from Earth (at the end of the previous G.I. Joe vs. the Transformers limited series by Devil's Due), the terrorist organization called Cobra is rumored to be forming up again, using Cybertronian-derived technology. In pursuit of leads, the G.I. Joe team busts a weapons-smugging deal set up by the Dreadnoks. Though the Dreadnoks fight back with enhanced weaponry and an armored tank, the Joes manage to capture them with their own Cybertron-enhanced firepower and a pair of robotic exo-suits. The next day, Cobra Commander pays a visit to Destro in Portugal, and tries to solicit the arms dealer's support for a raid on a Boston laboratory; scientists there have opened a wormhole to the Teletran-3 supercomputer on Cybertron, and Cobra Commander wants to seize the technology and exploit it for his own ends. When Destro remains skeptical, Cobra Commander reveals his secret ace -- a subservient Starscream! As Destro and Cobra Commander finalize their agreement, Destro's butler sneaks away from the mansion, revealing himself as the G.I. Joe undercover agent Chuckles... On cybertron, Optimus Prime and the Autobots are on the run, a small band of rebels fighting against Shockwave's total control of the planet. Though the Autobots manage to steal a cache of energon from Decepticon stores, Shockwave considers them little more than an annoyance. Later, in Boston, the Joes raid a secret Boston laboratory, just as Cobra has secured the facility. In the ensuing firefight, the wormhole surges, instantly transporting everyone to Cybertron! But before anyone can react, Teletran-3 surges again, sending tendrils of energy across Cybertron that causes numerous Transformers to vanish! As the chaos dies down, Shockwave enters the chamber and prepares to capture the humans -- but is interrupted by the sudden arrival of Ultra Magnus and Perceptor! As Magnus sets up a portable force field around the humans, Perceptor captures Starscream and analyzes Teletran-3 for answers. According to him, the surges were ruptures in the space-time continnum, and numerous Transformers have been scattered to different times and places in Earth's history. Worse, if the Transformers are not returned to Cybertron within 12 hours, the temporal feedback will bathe Earth in unending nuclear fire. Realizing the gravity of the situation, G.I. Joe and Cobra put aside their differences to retrieve the missing Transformers. Perceptor equips them with tracking devices and disruption units, then programs Teletran-3 to send four teams to the times when the Transformers were sent... Zartan, Snake-Eyes, Storm Shadow, and Lady Jaye are transported to the '70s, and the thought of reliving pet rocks and disco makes Zartan nauseous. After securing some disguises, they quickly locate Jazz and Bumblebee, then head to San Francisco for their other targets. As a car thief swipes Hot Rod, Lady Jaye and Jazz challenges him to a race across the streets of San Francisco, ending in a hangar containing a cargo plane surrounded by cops! Before the situation can escalate, the Joes and Cobras slap disruptors on the last two Transformers, sending them all back to present-day Cybertron. Elsewhen, a second team appears in an alley -- and suddenly everyone dives for cover as they're caught in a dueling gunfight between rival mobsters! ![]() Roadblock, the Baroness, Beachhead, and a Cobra Viper appear in 1937 Chicago, just as a gunfight between rival mobsters rolls by. While Roadblock revels at the idea, the Cobra Viper goes into shock, and Beachhead and the Baroness bicker over how to find their six targets. Soon afterwards, the team tracks their first target, a red delivery truck surrounded by armed guards. While the others hide on a nearby rooftop, Beachhead takes out the guards, then interrogates one of them, who reveals that a mob boss named Tommy Fingers has the others in a garage under his club. Roadblock then sets a disruptor on the truck, restoring Optimus Prime to consciousness, and quickly brief him on the situation. Later, while Beachhead, Optimus Prime, and the Cobra Viper wait outside, the Baroness catches Tommy Fingers' eye inside his club, while Roadblock sneaks in as a substitute trumpet player. During the next break, Roadblock asks the guards at the garage for a cigarette, then takes them out single-handedly. He opens the garage and rendezvous with the Baroness, and they are rejoined by the others. She shows them four other vehicles, and tells them that Tommy has a truck loaded with dynamite on the streets. The Joes and Cobras wonder if they should unlock the four unknown Transformers before them, and Optimus Prime admits he can't tell if they're friends or foes. Suddenly, one of them transforms into Drag Strip, and grabs the remaining disruptors! As he restores the other Stunticons, Prime takes the humans and drives off, with the Stunticons giving chase! Optimus Prime races through Chicago, looking for the last Transformer, while Roadblock and Beachhead try to hold off the Stunticons. As they close in on their target, the Stunticons prepare to open fire -- but the Baroness shoots first, detonating the dynamite! In the ensuing chaos, she dashes towards the truck and slaps it with a disruption unit... ...and it transforms into Motormaster, the last Stunticon, who collapses with a groan. As the Baroness explains that she figured dynamite wouldn't be a danger to advanced alien robots, they are suddenly returned to Cybertron. Elsewhen, Spirit, Barbecue, Dr. Mindbender, Tomax, and Xamot are transported to the third destination... the shattered ruins of New York City! ![]() Admist the ruins of a future New York City, Barbecue, Spirit, Tomax, Xamot, and Dr. Mindbender are in search of one Transformer, five miles northwest of their position. They are quickly spotted by a Decepticon patrol, but are saved by the heavily-cyborged future versions of the Dreadnoks. As they take the time-displaced humans to an underground base, the Dreadnoks explain that a Shockwave-led invasion has decimated most of the planet, leaving the few remaining humans to cast aside their differences and try to fight back. The team is then introduced to Duke, a scarred and crippled cynic who says the best thing they can do to help is to join their feeble ranks. Barbecue suggests that they can avert the invasion if they find their lost Cybertronian, but Duke calls them cowards and orders them to leave. As they do, Dr. Mindbender ponders the possibility of this future coming to pass, and Torch volunteers to help them find the Transformer they need... Meanwhile, back on Cybertron, Ultra Magnus strains to keep the force field up despite heavy attacks from the Decepticons. The field generator is already depleted, and Magnus is risking his own power to keep it going, giving Shockwave confidence that they will soon capture the humans, the Autobots, and Teletran-3... Back in Future Earth, Torch explains that "The Autobot" has been the only thing preventing the humans from even further extinction. As they approach the city again, they're suddenly attacked by a swarm of Insecticons! In response, Tomax and Xamot link arms, then vaporize part of the swarm with dual energy blasts! With an EMP grenade from Torch, the humans run into a forest, and are quickly surrounded by robot panthers! But before the humans can react, the Decepticons are vaporized by "The Autobot" -- Ratchet! Spirit tries to talk Ratchet into returning with them, but Ratchet insists they first help him rescue a cadre of humans held as slaves at a nearby factory. The Joes and Cobras agree; working together, they quickly free the slaves while Ratchet ruthlessly destroys their Decepticon guards. Ratchet, however, refuses to return, citing a need for him to stay and save the remaining humans. In response, Barbecue ambushes him with their disruptor, sending everyone back to Cybertron... ...where they are suddenly attacked by Shockwave's forces! Ratchet falls instantly, and Shockwave vaporizes Xamot a moment later, while Cyclonus captures the others. Shockwave then begins the next step of his plan: to reprogram Teletran-3's time gates so they still function, but not allow anyone to pass. Then he simply has to wait for the temporal quakes to occur, burning all of Earth for his conquest! Meanwhile, beneath the streets of Cybertron, the last three free humans -- Breaker, Lady Jaye, and Beachhead -- must find some way to turn the situation around... ![]() In a hidden alcove beneath the surface of Cybertron, a handful of escaped humans -- the members of Cobra and G.I. Joe who escaped from Shockwave's takeover of Teletran-3 (see last issue) -- debate what to do next. Storm Shadow appears, telling them that he saw the combination Shockwave used to shut down the gates; their hope of saving Earth is to return and reverse the sequence. Beachhead notes they can escape the Decepticons' sensors if they don't have any metal -- not even a tooth filling -- which leaves only Roadblock and Lady Jaye eligible. Later, after a nervous climb up the interior of the tower, Roadblock and Lady Jaye spy on the Decepticons as they wait for the temporal burst to destroy Earth. Roadblock sneaks up on one Decepticon and grabs his gun, then starts firing on the others as Lady Jaye races for Teletran-3. She scrambles up its surface and quickly enters the counter-code sequence, activating a time portal that brings back four prehistoric Joes and Cobras -- and five angry Dinobots! The Dinobots tear through the Decepticons with brutal speed, and soon have the city secured for the Autobots. The next day, atop the ruined tower, Optimus Prime and the humans make their farewells. Prime and the Joes make plans to assure that no more teleportation gates can be opened between their planets, while Cobra Commander and Destro argue over the failure of their plans. As the humans leave, someone wonders where Starscream has gone, and Cobra Commander dismisses him with muted indifference. Meanwhile, as Shockwave is undergoing repairs at his Decepticon base, Starscream is escorted to his presence. Denying he was a traitor, Starscream begs to rejoin the Decepticons' ranks. Before Shockwave can make a decision, however, a recorded message from Cobra Commander plays; the message calls Starscream a lazy, insolent, subversive lout, one whom the Commander punishes by detonating forty-five pounds of plastic explosives lining his housing! Three months later, back on Earth, Dr. Mindbender is transferred out of the McMath Maximum Security facility by two National Security Agents. They fly him to a secret base, then send him down by himself to level 17. He reluctantly complies, and finds a laboratory in shattered ruins. He turns to see his new captors -- the imperial leadership of Cobra-La -- who plan to unite with the dark forces of Unicron and conquer both Earth and Cybertron! |
