![]() TransReview Note: Sadly we have none of these comics in our possession, so we are presenting you with this summary from Rob's Transformers Page. Hasbro, the US producer of Transformers toys, produced several Transformers mini-comics... ![]() This was an eight-page mini-comic produced by Kenner (a subsidiary of Hasbro which was producing Transformers toys at the time). It was sold with the Optimus Primal/bat and Megatron/crocodile Beast Wars toys. In the darkness of night, a cheetah, a boar, and a bat search through a dense jungle. The bat -- who is actually Optimus Primal, leader of the Maximals -- uses his advanced sensors to find a secret genetics laboratory. Optimus is then attacked by a nearby crocodile, who is revealed to be Megatron. The Maximals and the Predacons battle each other, and the Maximals quickly weaken the Predacons. But before the Maximals can secure their victory, Megatron detonates the lab, and the Predacons escape. ![]() These mini-comics were produced by Hasbro and available with their Transformers Armada toys. ![]() At the Autobots' Earth headquarters, Optimus Prime notices that Megatron is using an energy-draining device on the city. He dispatches Hotshot and Jolt to stop the Decepticons, but Hotshot heads off on his own, dismissing any need for help. Hotshot reaches the power station and finds the device, but it's too heavy for him to move. Challenged by Cyclonus and Crumplezone, Hotshot is suddenly saved by Jolt's timely arrival, who gives him an extra engine that activates Hotshot's previously-unknown driving claws. Then, combining with Jolt for extra leaping power, the two jump over a washed-out bridge and get away, while the Decepticons are caught by the explosion of the device. Back at the base, Hotshot admits that he works better with Jolt than without, and the two shake to seal their partnership. ![]() At the Autobots' Earth Headquarters, Optimus Prime radios Scavenger for an update to his current mission. Scavenger reports that he and Rollbar are almost done installing the Autobots' new satellite receiver; Prime approves and signs off. As Rollbar prepares the final touches, he is suddenly blitzed by the Minicon Destruction Team, sent by Megatron to foil the Autobots' plans. Scavenger stomps to the rescue, but is challenged by Starscream, who destroys the dish and sends Scavenger crashing to the ground. Starscream lands to deal with Rollbar, but is abruptly plowed into the ocean by Scavenger's bulldozer mode. Later, with the Destruction Team captured, Scavenger expresses regret that the installation was destroyed. Rollbar dismisses this by saying it can be rebuilt, and cheers up Scavenger by reminding him that Autobots never quit. ![]() At a remote outpost a few miles from Autobot Headquarters, the Minicon Air Defense Team destroys a Decepticon spy satellite dish. They then see Sparkplug's Minicon distress signal in the night sky, and report it to Optimus Prime. Prime tells the Minicons to wait for the Autobots to arrive, but they ignore his orders and fly to the rescue. Sparkplug then enters the transmission room, and Prime realizes the distress signal was a trap. Landing at a nearby mountain, the Air Defense Team finds that the distress signal was from a Decepticon transmitter. They are then captured by Galvatron, who forces them to combine into the Star Saber. As Galvatron gloats over his conquest, Optimus Prime and Jetfire reach the scene, then combine to form a super robot. Defying Prime's order to surrender the Minicons, Galvatron attacks, but is quickly disarmed and kicked away. As the dazed Air Defense Team recovers, Jetfire and Prime chide them for running off, and Prime reminds them that they need brains as well as brawn. ![]() In the far reaches of the galaxy, a new threat has been awakened -- a gigantic planet-eating monster, one on its way to Cybertron... Unaware of this menace, the Autobots on Cybertron are jubilant, for Galvatron has been captured. Unfortunately, as Optimus Prime, Overload, and Roll Out are transporting him for imprisonment, Galvatron reveals that his capture deliberate -- a threat borne out when Tidal Wave attacks! Transforming into a suit of armor, Tidal Wave then powerlinks with Galvatron, giving the Decepticon leader unprecedented power! Overload fights back with his own impressive firepower, but Galvatron easily blasts him away. Galvatron then corners Optimus Prime, taunting him for his show of mercy, and prepares to deliver a finishing blow... ...when a massive shadow blots out the sky -- a shadow cast by the devourer of worlds, Unicron! ![]() As with the Armada mini-comics, these mini-comics were produced by Hasbro and available with their Transformers Energon toys. Information on these comics is incomplete, if you can provide information on them please contact the guys at Rob's TF Page ![]() In the middle of a desert on Earth, Strongarm and Hot Shot are thrilled at their discovery of a large pool of energon. Before they can do anything more than admire it, however, they're suddenly ambushed by a pack of Battle Ravage drones! The two Autobots cut through the drones, but it's too late, as another pack is already absorbing the energon. Before the two Autobots can stop them, Scorponok rises out of a sand dune and batters them around! One of the Battle Ravage drones fabricates a morningstar, which Scorponok uses to smash Hot Shot. In response, Strongarm takes some of the remaining energon and converts it into a battle-axe, which Hot Shot uses to slice Scorponok's arm. Despite his wound, Scorponok laughs heartily, for the Battle Ravage drones have absorbed all of the energon! As the Decepticons escape, Hot Shot tries to make the best of the situation, noting that merely surviving an encounter with Scorponok is incredible enough. Elsewhere, more trouble is brewing for the Autobots. An energy gate opens, and out steps Megatron, back from the dead... ![]() Atop of a steep hill on Earth, Prowl and Inferno celebrate as they confirm the presence of Energon underneath. While Prowl makes plans to set up an energon tower to drain the hill, Landmine radios Optimus Prime for authorization -- a request that's denied due to nearby Decepticon activity. As Landmine warns his comrades with this news, Megatron leads an attack with a swarm of Terrorcon drones! To increase their firepower, Prowl and Inferno combine into Powerlinx Inferno, while Landmine combines with his assault plow exoskeleton. Though the Autobots manage to briefly hold off Megatron, they're soon overwhelmed when Insecticon clones attack from underground, freshly engorged with energon! Clearly overwhelmed, the Autobots retreat, leaving Megatron to gloat over his victory and seize the energon for his own ends... ![]() One of the benefits for members of Hasbro's Official Transformers Collectors' Club is the Transformers Collectors' Club Newsletter. Printed bi-monthly, this newsletter includes toy reviews, upcoming Transformers news, and a short (6 to 8 pages) ongoing Transformers comic story. ![]() After a brief explaination of Primus and Chaos as opposing forces of creation and chaos, Vector Prime tells how he waited for the two to lie dormant before leaving for the timestream. In that non-realm, Vector Prime observed events from various continuities, intervening in extreme circumstances to ensure the proper flow of reality. One event Vector Prime fails to prevent is the re-awakening of Primus by the Autobots (a reinterpretation of events from issue #61 of Marvel's Transformers comic); Primus' awakening informs Unicron of his presence, and the ancient conflict begins anew. Unicron's subsequent destruction (from the end of the Transformers: Armada television show) gives Vector Prime relief, but it's short-lived, as Vector Sigma suddenly sends him an urgent message -- "The Balance... destroyed!" Panicking, Vector Prime opens a portal out of the timestream and heads back to Cybertron, hoping he isn't too late to stop the (unnamed) new calamity... ![]() Some time after the events of last issue, a massive black hole near Cybertron disgorges Nemesis Prime, Ramjet, and four attendant Mini-Cons. The two are former heralds of Unicron who have been freed by his destruction. Ramjet notes that Unicron is not entirely dead; if Nemesis Prime uses the Dead Matrix within him to destroy Primus, then Unicron can still rule a multiverse of chaos. The two then descend to Cybertron... Cybertron itself is dark, abandoned by the Transformers who've fled the impending threat of the black hole. But in Iacon, two Decepticons named Jackhammer and Crush Groove have broken into Maccadam's Old Oil House and are enjoying its drinks. Their revelry are interrupted by Nemesis Prime and Ramjet, who claim the two as "warrior-slaves". The recruits resist and are promptly destroyed; the heralds resign themselves to finding Alpha Trion themselves. In his chambers, Alpha Trion is conferring with Vector Prime and Vector Sigma. After telling them that Primus is using all of his power to prevent the planet from falling into the "Unicron singularity," he asks about the search for the Planet Keys. Vector Prime replies that they've found one of the planets, but the Autobots are being challenged by "traitors," even as he struggles to comprehend the notion of Decepticons. Alpha Trion mentions that he's managed to exploit the black hole's space-time distortions to recruit help, then introduces Sentinel Maximus. As Maximus is introduced to Vector Prime, Alpha Trion announces that Ramjet has escaped-- --just as Sentinel Maximus is blasted from behind by Unicron's heralds! As Vector Prime produces a sword and attacks Ramjet, Alpha Trion is grabbed by Nemesis Prime and thrown against a wall. Nemesis Prime is puzzled by Sentinel Prime, who "reads" like a Matrix bearer but without a Matrix, while Maximus uses his powers to create a gun pointed at Nemesis. Ramjet insists to Vector Prime that balance must be restored, then suddenly turns and obliterates Alpha Trion and Vector Sigma with one blast! Mission accomplished, the heralds retreat, evne as Nemesis Prime promises a rematch. With Sentinel Maximus staggering and Alpha Trion and Vector Sigma dead, Vector Prime drops to his knees and declares, "This is truly a dire event"... ![]() Following the attack of last issue, Sentinel Maximus gets repaired while Vector Prime places Alpha Trion in a stasis tube in hopes he can be repaired later. Vector Prime then explains their attackers' origins: Nemesis Prime was crafted by Unicron from the remains of another reality's Optimus Prime, a dead soul tortured into a corrupted perversion of the original. Ramjet, in contrast, has been twisted by the unreality between dimensions into something even Vector Prime cannot identify. When Sentinel Maximus dismisses them, Vector Prime notes that Unicron may be able to use the space-time distortions to summon more minions... Unknown to them, Unicron has done exactly that, materializing a drooling mad mechanoid near the Iacon spaceport just as a ship arrives from the planet Speed. A Transformer emerges from the ship, annoyed at the lack of inhabitants, and is suddenly attacked by a swarm of Vermin-drones! Before they can do much damage, the drones are immediately destroyed by Unicron's manic creation -- who snarls his desire to feed on the visitor's spark! Elsewhere on Cybertron, Ramjet and Nemesis Prime are waiting for their Vermin-drones to find information about where Primus' essence is located. Ramjet explains to a confused Nemesis Prime that Unicron is not truly dead -- that Unicron exists anywhere evil does. Ramjet then explains that Cybertron is the "stable axis of the multiverse," and that destroying it in one reality destroys that entire universe as well. Furthermore, thanks to the singularity of the black hole (created by Unicron's destruction in the Transformers: Armada television series), this reality's space-time is weakened here. If Nemesis Prime can use his Dead Matrix to kill Primus, Cybertron will be fed into the singularity, and this reality will be destroyed... ...causing the singularity to break through into another reality, where it will immediately consume the Cybertron located there. This process will then repeat recursively across all realities -- destroying the entire multiverse! |
